The Royal Desert Triangle

Our first true riding day takes us towards Shekhawati, Rajasthan's celebrated open-air gallery of art and architecture.

Once a prosperous trading region, Shekhawati flourished with wealthy merchant families who built magnificent havelis, decorated with vivid frescoes depicting everything from mythology to everyday life. Mandawa offers a fascinating window into Rajasthan beyond its royal palaces - where history lives on in courtyards, painted walls and narrow lanes.

Arrive, settle in and explore the surrounding havelis and monuments at your leisure.

The landscape gradually changes as we ride west towards Bikaner, where Rajasthan begins to reveal its desert soul.

Founded in 1488 by Rao Bika, Bikaner grew as an important caravan city on the ancient desert trade routes. Today, it is known for its magnificent forts, richly carved havelis, camel culture and unmistakable desert character.

After lunch, we visit the impressive Junagarh Fort. If the desert light is on our side, we head towards the dunes to chase the sunset.

Today the desert becomes the road.

Our longest riding day takes us deeper into western Rajasthan, with wide-open Horizons, changing colours and long stretches of beautifully empty road. We ride at an unhurried pace, allowing the landscape to become part of the journey.

As we move closer to Jaisalmer - the heart of our Royal Desert Triangle - the Thar begins to feel truly vast.

Food options become simpler along this remote stretch, so we embrace the local flavours and keep a few snacks close. Rajasthan's cuisine can be bold and wonderfully spiced - consider it another part of the adventure.

Welcome to Jaisalmer, where the desert seems to have been carved from gold.

We explore the magnificent Jaisalmer Fort, one of the world's great living forts, along with its intricately carved havelis and historic streets. The journey continues to the abandoned village of Kuldhara, wrapped in stories, legends and desert silence.

To make the day effortless, sightseeing is arranged by private vehicle or convenient local transport. Entrance fees and tickets are included.

As evening falls, return to the desert for an exclusive private performance by Manganiyar folk musicians and Kalbelia dancers beneath the open Rajasthani sky.

Today we ride towards Rajasthan's far western frontier.

The roads here are surprisingly smooth and beautifully maintained, carrying us through an increasingly remote landscape of golden sands, scrub and endless Horizons. We travel close to India's international frontier, where certain roads and areas can occasionally be restricted due to security or operational requirements.

There is no need to worry - our route is planned with flexibility, and we always maintain alternative experiences should access change.

As the afternoon fades, leave the motorcycles behind for a private 4x4 Jeep Safari, taking us deep into the isolated dunes to experience the Thar at its most spectacular - ending with sunset over the desert.

Return to the resort, relax and share the day's riding stories over dinner.

We leave the familiar dunes behind and ride south towards Barmer, a lesser-known corner of Rajasthan celebrated for its traditional crafts, textiles, woodwork and vibrant folk culture.

This stretch completes another side of our desert triangle - moving from the tourist heart of the Thar into a more intimate and authentic Rajasthan.

Along the way, we meet local artisans and discover the craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations.

The road turns towards Jodhpur, the legendary Blue City.

Founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, Jodhpur grew into one of Rajasthan's most powerful princely states. Rising dramatically above the old city is Mehrangarh Fort, one of India's most spectacular fortresses - its walls carrying centuries of stories, battles and royal ambition.

We also have a little mystery planned along the route - one of Rajasthan's most unusual roadside legends awaits us.

If time permits, we explore more of Mehrangarh before settling into the evening in Jodhpur.

The journey begins to turn back towards Jaipur, but Rajasthan still has one more desert chapter for us.

We ride towards Khimsar, known for its historic fort and sweeping sand dunes. This is a shorter riding day - an opportunity to slow down, breathe and savour the landscape.

As the sun descends, gather around the dunes for a final desert sunset accompanied by Rajasthani folk music.

A fitting farewell to the desert roads.

Our final ride brings us back to Jaipur, completing the Royal Desert Triangle.

Over ten days, we have crossed royal cities, forgotten trading routes and vast desert landscapes - from the painted havelis of Shekhawati to the golden walls of Jaisalmer, from the Thar frontier to the blue streets of Jodhpur.

But more than the places, it is the road, the people, the shared meals, the unexpected moments and the stories created along the way that will stay with us.

Tonight, we raise a glass to the journey with a farewell felicitation, drinks and dinner - the final sign-off to an unforgettable motorcycle expedition.
